Application Considerations: TufSeam Coke Drum Panel System
Insulation system specifically engineered for long term coke drum insulation. The system is designed to take in consideration the constant thermal expansion and contraction a drum goes through in its cycle. The system can be installed on existing drum on a turn around basis or on a totally new drumapplication. The floating rings can be designed to be installed on welded clips or non-welded "Bird-Cage" straps. Either system will insure a long term efficient insulation system which will allow inspection of at risk weld seams on the vessel.

Drum Body
The sidewall panel length is engineered to allow for vertical drum expansion, ease of handling in installation, and ease of inspection of weld seams. The floating support ring allows the drum to expand horizontally and not affect insulation system.
Drum Head
The head is installedwith a prefabricated multiple layered insulation modules incased instainless steel foil and poultry netting and a stainless steel folded standing seam jacket application. This prevents water intrusion into the system causing cold spots and warping.
Drum Cone and Hot Box
To prevent steam intrusion, system is jacketed in .020 inch thick stainless steel with double folded standing seams.

The stainless outer shell combined with a standing seam provides a weather proof, durable,
maintenance -free coke drum insulation which allows thermal movement. The internal floating ring holds the system off the drum allowing drum movement without damaging the insulation. The screw attachment to the floating ring and single folded standing seam allows the panel removal / replacement during weld seam inspection.The panels are designed and manufactured to allow ease of handling and thermal movement.
Weather Proof
The head and cone have double folded standing seams which keeps the high pressure water on the head and steam cloud on the cone from entering the system and corroding the drum. The sidewalls have a single folded seam which ensures a dry system during driving rain.
Thermal Performance
With the prevention of wind and water from entering system the efficiency is kept to the maximum. An added feature of lack of moisture in the system is the absence of cold spots on the drum which causes warping.
Expansion/Contraction
The floating ring on sidewalls and sliding round bar on head and cone allows a flexible system which will withstand the heat cycle of the drum.
Turn-Around Installation
Because the system is pre-designed and manufactured, factored, it allows easy and rapid installation of panel modules. After In-service Weld Inspection
With each panel individually attached to the floating ring a single panel or complete row can be removed and replaced without involving the rest of the drum's panels.
Appearance
Stainless steel jacketing with
standing seams allows coke dust to be washed off of drums without compromising the efficiency of the insulation system.
