TufSeam
Panel Systems may be applied to any storage tank whose operating temperature
does not exceed the system's limitations. Attention must first be given
to the existing tank surface condition. If rusty, the tank must be reconditioned
by sandblasting and priming, using a primer that will withstand the
elevated tank surface temperatures which will prevail after the installation
has been completed. If the tank has been recently primed and/or painted,
is free of rust, and is known to have been primed and/or painted with
materials capable of withstanding the higher surface temperatures which
will prevail after installation of the TufSeam system, the panels may
be installed without further tank surface preparation. Tank temperature
is not critical during installation of the TufSeam panels.

Advanced
COLD Storage Tank and Vessel Insulation Using The TufSeam Panel System

Wall
-
Urethane
or Foamglass insulation is applied to the surface of the tank and
then sealed.
-
Vapor
barrier of glass fiber reinforced aluminum foil and modified Bitumen
with a Polyethylene film seals the insulation.
-
Pre-tensioned
stranded-wire cables with an aluminum abrasion shield, applied circumferentially
around tank allows for tank expansions and contraction while holding
the panels securely.
-
Turnbuckles
are adjusted to pre-tension the stranded-wire cable anchor system.
-
TufSeam,
our unique double-folded vertical seam. Flanges of adjacent panel
sections are folded and rolled over each other to produce a strong
double-sealed joint that will flex with the expansion and contraction
of the tank.
-
Stainless
steel fasteners are looped around the cables and are locked to the
panels by being rolled into the seams. The design allows the panels
to be tightly secured to the cable while allowing the cables to
expand and contract.
-
Outer
layer of minimal-thickness insulation is optional and is used to
stop penetration of the vapor barrier by outside forces (i.e., screws,
poprivets, etc).
-
Embossed
aluminum, steel, or stainless steel outer jacket.
-
Reinforcing
stiffeners add rigidity to the panels allowing the jacketing
to handle the vertical load.

TufSeam Standard Panel System

-
Embossed
aluminum, stainless steel, galvalume outer shell.
-
FOAMGLAS®
insulation bonded to outer shell in the factory.
-
Vapor
barrier bonded to FOAMGLAS® block insulation.
-
TufSeam,
our unique double-rolled vertical seam. Flanges of adjacent panel
sections are folded and rolled over each other to produce a strong,
double-sealed joint.
-
Turnbuckles
are adjusted to pretension the stranded wire cable anchor system.
-
Pre-tensioned,
stranded wire cables, applied circumferentially around the tank,
allow for tank expansion and contraction while holding the panels
securely against the tank wall.
-
Stainless
steel fasteners are looped around the stainless cable and are
locked to the panels by being rolled into the seams. This design
allows the panels to be tightly secured to the cable while allowing
the cables to expand and contract.
-
Reinforcing
stiffeners add rigidity to the panels and give additional strength
to the overall system.
